It was on the surface better but forcing people to be nicer and do their jobs right didn't really make Gar any happier if not just because he could tell that they resented him all the more for it. There were no longer ways to take out their dislike of him as there had been before.

But all the same he hadn't been completely opposed to the tutor. She was kindly and it didn't seem completely contrived and forced. So for if no other reason than he was lonely he had taken to the lessons.

It's a surprise when she showed up with a letter on a tray which seemed ridiculously fancy and he rolled his eyes just a little bit and didn't try to hide it from her as he took the letter to open up and read.
