They call it a gift when they bring it before the throne. Dorrek VIII, young emperor of the Skrull people, barely even bothered to pay any attention to the cloth covered box that was rolled up before the throne. These particular military leaders weren't much of ones that he cared for, and frankly while he was invested in the eventual journey to Earth and conquering it ~~as was his lofty and prophesied fate from long since before he was born~~, that didn't mean he cared too much about the recon team he had sent. They annoyed him, and sending them to a planet protected by 'heroes' had been meant as a punishment.

The 'gift' to get back into his good graces didn't seem likely to amuse him in any way. There was nothing intriguing about Earth. So the Emperor had ignored their simpering and scrapping before him. It was unbecoming of a Skrull to be anything other than strong and dominating warriors. Still, he cut off their rambling dialog and waved to one of his royal guard. K'lrt, ever the devoted servant, stepped forward and whipped the cloth off.

And Dorrek considered what was presented to him with a raised eyebrow. This, of course, was not what he'd been expected. He hadn't expected a living being.

"Where did you find it?" he asked in Skrull, continuing the conversation in his native tongue.

"It attempted to attack us," one of the generals, who was kneeling out of reach of the cage spoke. "It is more than it seems. Like Skrull, but not."

Intriguing. Dorrek gestured for the clear tank on wheels (with air holes of course), to be rolled closer. Let him better see this prize.

Gar presses a kiss to Theo's lips and he nods.

"It feels good doesn't it? Not just nice?"

"It feels really good," Theo agrees, and he really can't look right at Gar anymore.

"Do you want to get cleaned up now?" Gar asks when he realizes Theo really isn't looking at him anymore.

Sorry, he's... completely embarrassed. This is all so new to him. He rarely even felt things about other Skrull.

"I... uh. Yeah. Maybe? That could be a plan."

The confident emperor, nervous and shy.

"If that's okay with you?"

Gar shifts away from Theo after a few more moments absorbing the closeness. He sat on the edge of the bed and offered a smile to the emperor.

“It’s okay with me unless you wanted to go again.”

Go again. Theo's blushing again.

"Maybe we can, you know, get clean first?

Gar wonders if Theo is gonna stop blushing but it doesn’t bother.

“Go get cleaned up then.”

Theo pauses and hesitates after he gets himself standing.

“The, uh... the tubs are big enough for two.”

Gar hadn’t been expecting the offer. That doesn’t mean he’s not completely in favor of it though. An easy smile spreads across his lips.

“I’d really like that.”

He gets up, no need to waste time.

Well, there you have it. Theo smiles and scoops Gar into his arms. Isn't that good?

"It has bubbles."

"Whoa," Gar laughs when the other picked him up. He hadn't been expecting it. "Carrying me and bubbles, pulling out all the stops huh.."

"Pulling out all the stops?"

They don't have slang, just functional English. So Theo definitely looks confused as he carries Gar to the bathroom.

Gar laughs, nuzzling the other's shoulder. For a moment here he's forgetting all the bad between them. For a moment he's just there with a guy that he likes, that's really hot and sexy.

"Just... going out of your way to make things super nice?"

For the moment, well, even Theo can almost forget that he has held this man captive. Even strong-armed Gar, metaphorically, into being on this ship.

"Ah, I think I understand. We have a similar concept."

Theo carefully speaks the Skrull term for it as he moves through the bathroom door and moves to sit Gar on the edge of the large tub. Nearly large enough to swim in.

Gar repeats it but it's probable he won't actually remember it much later on. There's so much of the skrull language he has a hard time retaining. He settles onto the edge of the tub once Theo sat him down. it's all really overboard on extravagance but everything on this ship had been.

"You really want to take a bath together?"

Well, the ship is an Imperial transport. Of course it's going to be comfortable.

As for Theo, he frowns. Was this... was this Gar telling him no? He wanted to respect the man's personal space.

"Only if you wish it."

“I do,” Gar says softly. But to him bathing just felt intimate and there’s a weirdness to doing that with Teddy even if they’d just had their hands and mouths at each other.

Theo definitely doesn't agree on how intimate it is. This is just... a normal behavior. It's cleaning.

"Then I will," Theo assures him, moving to reach past Gar and turn on the water. Hot and fragrant. Clearly an indulgence.

But cleaning together? It’s different.

Gar closes his eyes when the water starts to run. The smile is amazing. And he’s kind of thinking he should probably let the tiger take a bath sometime. Tigers did love water.

Maybe Theo should teach him how to use non-perfumed water then. But he waits for the tub to fill a bit and slips into it, pleased for the heat.

"I can clean your back."

Gar bites his lip but he slips in after him, sighing at the temperature of the water. It’s perfect.

“I’d like that.”

"Turn around then."

The tub is more than large enough to stand in. Perhaps even swim in if one wasn't tall. And wide. So big, good for several people. And Theo takes up a bar of soap, fresh and new, and raises an eyebrow.

Gar does so and he bites his lip for a moment.

"Why are the baths so huge, Theo?"

"I inherited the ship. It was my grandfather's. And he was... quite affectionate for the ladies of the court."

He looks less than pleased by that.

"For me, it's just comfortable. Closest I've ever been to a pool."

Gar raises a brow and glances at Theo. He looks down then, chewing a bit on his lip.

“It is a bit like a pool,” he murmurs, but not quite the same. There were lots of things similar but nothing was the same as Earth and the longing was a painful throb in his heart and a tightening in his throat that he ignored. He cleared his throat.

“If anyone finds out...” he knows what he’ll be seen as. It wouldn’t be much easier for Theo he sure.
