Tommy shut his eyes, startled by the memory. It was ... sweet. But he couldn't help worrying still. What if he just didn't live up to the version Teddy had made of him. "You made me seem really good to them," he said quietly. "I dunno if I'm gonna be that good at it, Ted. I'll try, though."
He pressed his hand lightly to Teddy's stomach. He wanted to ask what it'd been like, if Teddy hated it, if it hurt. But they'd have time later. He didn't want to get started talking now - they might not stop. "I hate that you had to do all this alone," he said instead.
"I chose this," he says after a moment. "I chose to be alone in this. But I'm lucky. The... nursemaid I have for them? She's... She's my mom's daughter. I guess we're sorta, like, siblings?"
"You didn't," Tommy said. "Yeah, you kind of did but you chose it because you thought I'd want it. It's like I didn't really chose to not be with you either. We didn't ... chose to be in that room together, we didn't chose to get together to start with. So I'm not going anywhere anymore unless YOU choose to tell me you don't want me around. And I will kick your ass if you try to drug me and send me off again. I want ... Ted I want us to choose it for ourselves. It's fucked up how we started and what happened to us and how we fell for each other. But we still FEEL it."
He shrugged, half-smiling. "But it's good. That you had some kind of family. I uh ... we heard her on the vid calls so much, I started to wonder if you weren't with her, and she just wasn't always a she, since Skrulls can be whatever they want."
Tommy flushed, fidgeting self-consciously under that horrified stare and looking away. "What?" he asked, frowning. "If you don't want ... I'm not going to FORCE it, I just thought you wanted it too."
That was good, for Teddy. That he had someone to talk to and help with the kids. That he wasn't alone. It wasn't as good as having one of them (Tommy) here, but it was something. "I'm glad you had her."
Tommy looked back at him and then nudged him. "Kind of thought that's what I was offering now." Not the husband part, since he didn't know Teddy was thinking it. But to have him.
He smiled at the blush though. Fuck he'd missed Teddy. "Get me the clothes I'm supposed to wear?" he asked.
Well, if all goes well, maybe... Maybe he could ask. As it was, he just heads for the closet and opens it. Mostly it's clearly regal garb for Teddy. But beside it is also a selection of comfortable, clothes, more in lie with Speed's style, though in slightly less flamboyant colors. Body suits, but typically with a bit of cape or other fabric meant to drape.
Tommy followed him, still automatically glued to his side with that natural touch that Tommy hadn't thought to try to shed now that he was with Teddy again. He spotted the clothes that were cut for him readily enough, even if it wasn't quite what he'd wear on his own. He figured allowances had to be made for Skrull central anyway. He picked out one in shades of blue and just pulled off his own clothes - not like Teddy didn't know what he looked like, between two years naked, and shifting into him.
He pulled on the outfit carefully and then faced Teddy. "Am I gonna pass kid inspection?"
"You are," Teddy promises, his voice soft, his hands coming to glide over Tommy's hip. He then pulled the draping fabric, a very small shoulder cape, nothing serious, and put it around Tommy's neck with a clasp for the royal family on it. And, after a moment, he moves to a nearby dresser and opens a chest upon it, pulling out a small silver circlet.
Tommy blinked and then laughed. "I think the kids might roll with it, but everyone else is gonna be confused, Ted. They still think Billy's your consort." Since they'd said Consort Maximoff when they came in.
He gave Teddy a wry smile. "So you don't want a harem?"
Tommy frowned. "They ... meant me? I figured they still meant Billy and you just hadn't said anything to them." He was the consort? Because they were his kids. It made sense, he guessed. And it wasn't like he loved his name. "Hey ... I'd rather have your name than Maximoff, if I'm gonna be a consort, okay?" he said.
He laughed and shook his head. "No, not unless you get bored and need a crowd."
"I don't know, Maximoff confused me already," Tommy said with a smile. "Plus doesn't everyone here call you Dorrek and a bunch of titles?"
He let Teddy put the circlet on and then nodded. "Okay, deal." They had time now, and it wasn't dictated by mysterious kidnappers who'd put them in a room and left them there. They got to set their own rules.
"That's the name I want to make then." Tommy grinned. "So they've got crazy pretentious names?" That was always kind of cute on little kids. "Do they know how to shapeshift yet?"
He kissed back, leaning into it and then sighing softly. "Fuck, I missed you," Tommy said, quiet but full of emotion. He slid his hand into Teddy's, dropping a kiss into his shoulder and let Teddy lead him off to dinner.
"Technically they're Princess Kathryn Anelle Sar-Vell and Prince Thomas Dorrek Bil-Vell," Teddy admits. "And they're at the age where I expect it any day. At least if they're staying on a single level to go intangible they're less likely to run into something bad. But if they're flying?"
Teddy doesn't even know that he was flying almost before he was born. There was a reason Hulkling had been so GOOD at it so fast.
"I missed you too," Teddy agrees, fingers going out to stroke Tommy's hair.
Tommy laughed, but looked touched too. He remembered that conversation, when they'd meandered around talking about a future neither of them had been convinced they had outside of captivity, and talked about kids and families. Tommy had never thought he'd be a parent, or that he should be. But if he had, he'd have wanted to name them after Kate or Billy. Teddy had remembered that, even when he didn't think Tommy would want anything to do with them. "Maybe put backpack leashes on them, so they can't fly that far, once we figure out the intangible thing." Figures it would be a power none of them had, so it wouldn't be easy to figure out.
Tommy hummed a little as Teddy's fingers slid through his hair. No one else quite petted it right - not that anyone but David really tried.
"OH fuck, that would be CUTE," Teddy laughs, pulling Tommy against him and laughing into his shoulder. This is the best idea and he loves it, so much. "I'm doing it. I'm going to have them made.'
Tommy laughed, leaning into him. God, that was so fucking good. Just ... Teddy. He was warm and right there. Tommy felt like he could practically purr. "Just little green floating kid balloons," he said with a grin. "God, Ted. We have kids. That's nuts. They've got your eyes." Yeah Teddy's eyes could be anything he wanted. But they looked just like his.
"The hair, definitely. The heart - you're the one with the big giant heart." He leaned up, nuzzling his cheek against Teddy's. "You'll tell me right? If I say something wrong to them, or do something I shouldn't?"

"She's basically the older sister I never had. We spend time talking about Mom."

He tilted his head when Teddy got the circlet out. "Isn't that for like royalty?" he asked curiously, taking it and looking at it.

Though he gets if that is a bit weird.

He gave Teddy a wry smile. "So you don't want a harem?"
no subject
That was how Tommy was spoken of after all. Teddy had insisted. Tommy didn't connect to the shepherds after all.
"do you want me to want a harem to share with you?"
Clearly Tommy didn't want the coronet, so Teddy puts it away.

He laughed and shook his head. "No, not unless you get bored and need a crowd."

But he smiles opens the box, and takes the circlet out, crossing to Tommy and putting it lightly on his brow.
"Maybe we'll talk about that When you're sure you want to do this. Give it a month or so."

He let Teddy put the circlet on and then nodded. "Okay, deal." They had time now, and it wasn't dictated by mysterious kidnappers who'd put them in a room and left them there. They got to set their own rules.
"Ready, I guess?" he asked.

His fingers came up to cup the bottom of Tommy's jaw, tilting his face up so Teddy can kiss him, light and sweet.
"Come on, let's have dinner with the kids."
