They call it a gift when they bring it before the throne. Dorrek VIII, young emperor of the Skrull people, barely even bothered to pay any attention to the cloth covered box that was rolled up before the throne. These particular military leaders weren't much of ones that he cared for, and frankly while he was invested in the eventual journey to Earth and conquering it as was his lofty and prophesied fate from long since before he was born, that didn't mean he cared too much about the recon team he had sent. They annoyed him, and sending them to a planet protected by 'heroes' had been meant as a punishment.

The 'gift' to get back into his good graces didn't seem likely to amuse him in any way. There was nothing intriguing about Earth. So the Emperor had ignored their simpering and scrapping before him. It was unbecoming of a Skrull to be anything other than strong and dominating warriors. Still, he cut off their rambling dialog and waved to one of his royal guard. K'lrt, ever the devoted servant, stepped forward and whipped the cloth off.

And Dorrek considered what was presented to him with a raised eyebrow. This, of course, was not what he'd been expected. He hadn't expected a living being.

"Where did you find it?" he asked in Skrull, continuing the conversation in his native tongue.

"It attempted to attack us," one of the generals, who was kneeling out of reach of the cage spoke. "It is more than it seems. Like Skrull, but not."

Intriguing. Dorrek gestured for the clear tank on wheels (with air holes of course), to be rolled closer. Let him better see this prize.

Gar swallows and then he smiles before closing the distance and wrapping his arms tightly around the other.

"You're the fool."

“Yeah,” Dorrek agrees, holding him and trying not to get a little too emotional here. “What in the world should i do with you now?”

"Not send me away again? Really it's annoying," Gar says a bit snarky as he squeezes him hard again. "I shouldn't kiss you here should I?"

[hybrid_prince]

"Not here," Dorrek agrees with a tired sigh before offering his arm.

"Come, it must have been a long trip. Let me arrange a meal for you. And your rooms, of course."

[garrrr]

Gar takes his arm and he nods. It had been a long trip, exhausting and arguing with Dorrek had only exhausted him more and he just wants to get a chance to kiss him freely.

"Mm," he agrees.

Well, there’s that. He guides Gar off, knowing there will be food waiting in his suite. he makes his way through the place and it takes a handful of minutes to get there and head through the room. And look, yep, food. He closes the doors behind them and sighs.

“Gar, love, you have freedom to move.”

[garrrr]

Gar turns to look at him as soon as the door is closed and he wraps his arms back around him in a hard hug, looking up at him. "Don't you dare try and send me away again."

But this was better for them, right? But here he was, aching over the presence of the other man. It felt good.

“I just wanted you to be safe, my little love.”

[garrrr]

"Then find a way to keep me safe here by your side," Gar counters, tightening his hold on the other and leaning up to press his lips to his.

How does he do that? Dorrek doesn’t know. But he accepts the kiss, wrapping his arms around Gar to lift him up a bit higher to make the kiss easier. Once it breaks he smiles.

“I will try, my dear. But you will have to accept a guard.”

[garrrr]

Gar stifles a laugh as the other lifts him a bit focusing on kissing him for the moment.

“A guard? Really! I can protect myself.”

"Gar, please," Teddy groans, because it's not that easy. "You have been around the Skrull enough to know that isn't entirely true, don't you?"

[garrrr]

“How am I supposed to even trust them, Theo?” Gar points out, it’s not like he has a great history with guards and the like. He pulls away from the other and makes his way to the food to eat.

“I will give you the one I trust the most,” Theo offers. “My personal guard. To protect you, my greatest treasure.

[garrrr]

Gar studies him, eating a couple bites of the food that had been set out for him.

"Then who would you have?"

[hybrid_prince]

“Gavin, she’s my cousin, distantly,” Theo answers, moving to join Gar with the food. Very good. “She’s very devoted to me.”

[garrrr]

Gar frowns still, worried at the idea still somehow.

"No one wants me here but you."

[hybrid_prince]

"Gavin has specifically said I've been more of an ass without you. I think she's a fan," Theo counters as he pulls a chair up and sits in it.

[garrrr]

Gar smiles a little but he's still worried. He's not had the best experience with most of the other skrull. He shifts so he can drop his legs over the other's lap as he eats.

"I only trust you."

[hybrid_prince]

"Do you trust that I trust my cousin?" Theo asks, clearly concerned. But then he's wrapping his arms around Gar. This is a good place.

[garrrr]

"Yes..." Gar says reluctantly, letting the other hold him as he continues to pick at the food in front of him.

He just still remembers when he was captive, when there were those that went against Theo's wishes. Could either of them ever be really sure?

[hybrid_prince]

“If... it bothered you, then we will not do it,” Theo decides. “You will need to be at my side at all times.”

[garrrr]

Gar sighs and he drops his head against the other's shoulder as he looks up at him.

"I can't do that to you."

[hybrid_prince]

"It is either that or a guard. I cannot otherwise be certain that you are safe," Theo points out, exasperated.

[garrrr]

"A guard... is fine, I guess," Gar finally relents.
