For Garrrr
They call it a gift when they bring it before the throne. Dorrek VIII, young emperor of the Skrull people, barely even bothered to pay any attention to the cloth covered box that was rolled up before the throne. These particular military leaders weren't much of ones that he cared for, and frankly while he was invested in the eventual journey to Earth and conquering it
The 'gift' to get back into his good graces didn't seem likely to amuse him in any way. There was nothing intriguing about Earth. So the Emperor had ignored their simpering and scrapping before him. It was unbecoming of a Skrull to be anything other than strong and dominating warriors. Still, he cut off their rambling dialog and waved to one of his royal guard. K'lrt, ever the devoted servant, stepped forward and whipped the cloth off.
And Dorrek considered what was presented to him with a raised eyebrow. This, of course, was not what he'd been expected. He hadn't expected a living being.
"Where did you find it?" he asked in Skrull, continuing the conversation in his native tongue.
"It attempted to attack us," one of the generals, who was kneeling out of reach of the cage spoke. "It is more than it seems. Like Skrull, but not."
Intriguing. Dorrek gestured for the clear tank on wheels (with air holes of course), to be rolled closer. Let him better see this prize.

He really hated that thing, the tiger hated more. He knew what they wanted though and maybe he could keep from getting hurt more than necessary.
So he gets up onto his haunches and it's awkward feeling to transform in front of others even in this situation.
But the tiger's angry and Gar roars, launching himself toward the stranger appraising him but of course he only throws himself against the container.
no subject
"Quite interesting," he says, using English. The same language he heard the boy speaking. "Skrull are not good at doing animals, of course. But you look like an overgrown, green Flerkin."
"Less dangerous," K'lrt immediately dismisses.
"Perhaps," the Emperor agrees, tilting his head as he considers the creature. "And it fought alongside the humans? Any chance it is...?"
"Biology implies it is an earth species."
Dorrek shrugs. There was always a slim chance that, when the Skrull had visited Earth millenia ago someone had bred with the natives. Apparently not in this case.
no subject
But hearing someone speak English, Gar pauses. There's a lower sound and then he's transforming back, pushed back into the corner staring at the being that's clearly in charge.
Please send me home, he wanted to say but he bit his tongue, quite literally to stop the words. They weren't going to send him home...would they be like Cadmus, though? Experimenting on him and making him do horrible things or would they just kill him?
"What do you want?" Because really he's tired of being talked about like he's an appliance being bought.
no subject
"What are you?" he asks, not bothering to answer Gar's own question.
no subject
"I'm just a human?" he answers, shrugging. He thinks that's what the other's trying to ask. "I got sick and a doctor helped me and it's basically a side effect..."
Look, he doesn't really understand how Dr. Caulder did it.
no subject
"You insult us," Dorrek shrugs as the young man explains. And then he's shifting, changing, skin flowing far smoother than anything Gar can manage. Because Skrull? This is what they do. A racial trait. And after a second, Gar is looking at himself, but dressed as the young emperor. "What we do isn't a 'side-effect'."
Gar's own voice, thrown back in his face, though with quite a bit of disdain.
no subject
"I'm sorry... but... you asked about me... not you."
no subject
"Don't be crass," Dorrek dismisses. "After all, I hold your life in my hands."
no subject
"Well maybe it's normal for you but kind of not normal for me to see you turn into me...I can just turn into animals...or like well two animals...."
He's rambling. He bites down on his lip to stop himself before he gets himself a face full of fire or...whatever.
no subject
And Dorrek? He lets himself melt back into the form he had earlier.
"And what are you called, gift?"
no subject
"Gar."
Gift? God are they back in like the 1st century?
no subject
"You will be comfortable here, Dorrek. But be smart. Leave your claws to yourself."
He waves and another set of guards approach, along with two female attendants.
"He is to be cleaned and fed. Be careful, the... kitten has fangs."
With that Dorrek turns away and starts back up the steps to the throne.
"I suggest you behave."
no subject
Gar, you are going to get yourself killed. He feels his jaw tighten at hearing himself talked about and there's something like a growl from him at the suggestion.
But then again what can he do at the moment? He really would rather not die.
no subject
The young man seems like held have opinions on decency. Not that Dorrek cares. Yet another tiny gesture, and the two Skrull military men give a salute before turning and striding away.
no subject
"Yes," he mutters, because he's cold and he doesn't exactly like how vulnerable being naked makes him feel.
So he'll do what he's told getting cleaned up and fed he supposes is what's next like he's a new pet just brought home. But clothes...and he was hungry anyway.

From there on to say the new property of the Emperor is pampered. There are beautiful women to bathe him in a tub deep enough for even the very tall Skrull to swim in. The clothes they offer him are robes, a deep violet that drape over him with sinfully soft folds. Clearly the clothes are meant for someone bigger, but the women hem it right then and there to fit Gar properly, trailing just a bit after him. And then they guide him out.
They don't have to touch him to do it either. One of the women has a ring, the same color as the cuff around his wrist, and when she pulls with it, it drags at Gar as well. And so, between that and the weapons, Gar will be led through lavish halls until they guide him through a large set of doors and into an even more lavishly appointed suite. Like, clearly an important person resides here. A bed large enough to put several full grown Skrull, surrounded by lush red curtains around it. And, of course, a table covered with a good deal of food.
And from there the women bow and slip out, and the guards wait inside the door but don't move, utterly impassive as they leave Gar to eat, all on his own.
no subject
Gar is a bit relieved to be out of the container but the gauntlet is strange and he doesn’t ask what it does. He can guess. He sort of wonders if these people talk English since he’d been taken prisoner it’s been a rare thing for someone to even talk to him and that was a bit like torture to him.
He really doesn’t understand any of this, why there are people bathing and dressing him. Why he couldn’t just have normal clothes. What had happened to his clothes anyway... he kept all his thoughts and questions to himself. He was clearly still a prisoner with weapons pointed at him. He had a feeling no one would care about just killing him.
And before he knows it he’s alone with the guards and maybe he should have taken time to ask those women questions. Would they have understood him? Would they have answered? Well, now he won’t know.
The guards definitely arent going to be any help. After a few minutes of staring dumbstruck around the room he goes to the table and starts eating. He feels like he’s starving.
Once Gar finishes he stares at the gauntlet on his wrist and then he pushes his hands through his hair as he stares at the table instead. How the hell was he going to get out of this?
no subject
And that's when Dorrek notices him. It's as he's undoing the clasp of his cloak, and he pauses to look at the strange human briefly before flinging the thing aside.
"You have eaten?" he asks as he continues shedding pieces of royal regalia. Should really summon a bodyman for this but... no. Not yet. He has other ideas.
no subject
It’s then he really puts two and two of where he is but honestly he still doesn’t know what the other wants with him. Or he’s just not letting himself imagine because he’s not sure if his imagination could do worse or better than whatever the reality is.
Gar looks up at him when asked a question. “Yes.”
He frowns as he tries to figure the other out. “What do you want from me here?”
no subject
Once he has a full plate he moves to a couch and lounges across it.
"You have no clue where I am, do you, Gar of Earth? Or even What I am?"
no subject
“Then why can’t I go home?” Gar asks and maybe it’s a bit insolent but he is a brat.
He shrugs a bit at the questions. “Seem like some kind of rich person with more power than anyone needs.”
Gar’s fingers tap on the table where he still sat. “Someone who can get better entertainment than me.”
no subject
Gar lifts the coronet from his brow and tosses it before waving a hand. The guards at the door leave the room, no doubt taking up posts outside.
"I am Emperor Dorrek, the Eighth of the name, ruler of the Skrull. And it is my lofty fate to conquer your world to name it the new throne world of my empire. And you? You are a strange thing and I am quite interested in you."
no subject
“So you’re a rich, powerful and greedy guy, okay,” Gar mutters.
“Why can’t you leave my world alone? Seems like an unnecessary fate doesn’t it?”
Gar’s fingers touch the stupid gauntlet he still is having to wear, knowing it might as well be chains or the container he’d been in earlier.
“Why are you interested in me?”
Gar still considered himself a nobody.
no subject
They are destroying it anyway. As for the other thing, the Emperor rolls his shoulders.
"Skrull are one of few species in the universe that can alter themselves. And even we cannot become animals. You intrigue me."
no subject
Gar thinks fate is stupid and a load of bullshit but this guy seems to believe in it so saying as much doesn’t really have any point.
“So you’re basically just going to make us your slaves and tell us it’s for our own good,” Gar rolls his eyes. He can’t help it. Behaving really isn’t his strong suit on a good day.... and he is not having a good day at all.
“Great. So are you going to torture and experiment on me too? Because I could really pass on that....”
